Samantha Blank, DC, CD, has joined the ranks of Townsend’s chiropractors. Her services come with a twist. She is also a certified birth doula.
A birth doula is a non-medical professional or birth companion who supports a pregnant person throughout her pregnancy, actual birth and beyond, according to Wikipedia.
Blank, who lives in Winston with her husband, who is also a chiropractor, chose her profession early on when she worked with a chiropractor during her high school years. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay, completing her Doctorate degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. She later worked with globally recognized industry leaders, including international lecturer Dan Lyons.
Blank specializes in the Blair Upper Cervical Technique, a gentle, precise methodology focused on the upper spine that is highly successful in treating headaches and migraines. Using a specialized treatment plan, Blair, she said, is gentle and requires the patient to lie on their side for treatment.
Inspired by her personal experience with childbirth, she researched the field of birth doula. She received her certificate 5 years ago. Her dual role as a chiropractor and certified birth doula uniquely equips her to support local mothers through prenatal and postpartum journeys. Blank practices out of her new office at Family Roots, 100 B Street in Townsend and in her home in Winston.
